I have an active law practice in Manhattan, taking on cases in the NYC area and Long Island. My solo practice focuses on Elder Law, Trusts and Estates, Guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, Estate Planning and Estate Administration. This includes preparation of trusts, wills, work on Advance Directives such as Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies, Medicaid planning, Medicaid Home Care, Institutional Medicaid and Medicare. I attend a monthly Elder Law study group with numerous colleagues, where we provide assistance to each other on issues which come up in our practice. I have volunteered my services at Selfhelp Community Service Inc's Evelyn Frank Legal Research Program (recently moved over to NYLAG), working directly with Valerie Bogart and David Silva. I am also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the NYS Bar Association Elder Law Section and the Trusts and Estates Section, Eldercare Matters, and The Orion Resource Group.
I am also very active working with not for profits. I have been on the Board of Directors of UJA-Federation of New York for over 10 years, I currently serve on two of the allocation committees - the Commission on the Jewish People, and the Caring Commission. I have chaired several Task Forces, am currently on the COJP Cabinet, and have served on the COJP Steering Committee. I had previously served in leadership positions on numerous other committees both in their NYC office and their Long Island office.
I also serve as Executive Vice President of our small family foundation, The Shirley and William Fleischer Family Foundation, Inc. We have a number of priorities, the largest focusing on assisting organizations that provide employment and jobs training in the NYC area or in Israel.
