Long Term Care....Where do you want it

Given the choice, where would you choose to receive care if you needed it? Almost everyone asked would prefer to be cared for in the comfort and familiarity of their own home or, the home of a loved one.

Long Term care is usually not intensive, nursing home care. You may simply need assistance with putting on your socks, bathing or maybe being reminded to take your pills. But, the cost of this custodial care, not skilled care, is increasing at an incredible rate.

And, most seniors don't want to be a financial or emotional burden to their families but may not be able to make that decision on their own, due to a cognitive impairment, like Alzheimer's. Which, believe it or not, is the cause for care in about 50% of the cases.

One carrier, Genworth, has some staggering stats below-

  • Over $7.7 Billion dollars in Benefits Paid Through 12/11
  • Youngest Claimant: 27, Oldest Claimant: 103
  • Longest Claim: 18.7 years
  • $1.2 Million Is Largest Single Claim
  • 71% Of Claim Dollars Have Been Paid to Female Claimants
  • Genworth Pays Out $4.3 Million in Benefits Every Business Day
  • 50% of All Claim Dollars are Paid To Claimants With Mental Disorders including Dementia
  • As of 12/31/2011, all GNW products

People are living longer than ever due to wonderful medical advancements. But, would you agree that when people age they may become frail. And, when they become frail, they may need some type of assistance and/or supervision?  Are you prepared or even able to stop everything and take care of a loved one, financially, physically, emotionally?

Deciding who is going to pay for the ever-rising cost of this care is a major concern for millions of people. Why not learn about all of your options from an expert in the field of long term care.

I look forward to talking with you!
